Silicone rubber polymer molecule is composed of Si-O bond into a chain structure, its main composition is high molar mass linear polysiloxane. Because of the Si-O-Si bond is the basic type, what the silicon atom connects is methyl. There is very small amount of unsaturated side chain groups and small molecular inter-atomic forces, and molecular spiraling structure with methyl arranged outwards can rotate freely, making silicone rubber better than other ordinary rubber in heat resistance, electrical insulation, chemical stability, etc..

Typical silicone rubber is polydiformaldehyde siloxane, with a spiral molecular configuration, whose molecular force is small, so it has good resilience, while pointing to the outside of the spiral of the formaldehyde group can rotate freely, so that silicone rubber has a unique surface properties, such as hydrophobicity and surface anti-viscosity.
